Día 78 / Day 78

Hong Kong, 1 de Noviembre de 2010, Harriet.

Conocimos distintas personas en este viaje, entre ella Harriet (no es su nombre real pero es imposible pronunciar el verdadero asi que en general todos aca tienen un nombre internacional). Nos conocimos en el hotel de Suzdal en Rusia, ella iba para un lado y nosotros para el otro, pero pudimos compartir un día recorriendo el pueblo. Cuando le contamos que Hong Kong estaba en nuestros planes inmediatamente nos ofreció un departamento que ella tiene y no usa en un barrio local de esta ciudad que es donde nos estamos alojando. El barrio está lleno de atracciones (para nosotros) no turísticas y por ejemplo aquí en la foto ella nos llevo a comer a un restaurante típico de barrio donde ni de casualidad hubiésemos entrado. También aprendimos porque los platos de comida China nunca tiene un acompañamiento, si pedís pollo no viene con puré o arroz solo viene pollo, si pedís cerdo lo mismo y asi, el punto es que la tradición es compartir varios platos entre la familia y esto obliga a juntarse para este momento, incluso es común ver aca un dispositivo circular sobre la mesa que permite girar los platos para ir pasándolos.

We met different people in this trip, one of them was Harriet (it’s not the real name but it’s impossible to pronounce the real one, so in general everybody here has an International name). We met in the hotel of Suzdal, Russia. She was travelling in one direction and we were travelling in the opposite one, but fortunately we shared one day in that town. We told her about our plans in Hong Kong and immediately she offered her apartment in this city, she doesn’t use it and now we are in there, it’s located in a local neighborhood which is very attractive to us because is not touristic. Here in the picture we are in a typical restaurant in this neighborhood and believe me that it’s a place where we never would entered. We learned also why the Chinese dishes has not a side, for example if you ask for chicken is not coming with rice or smashed potatoes, is just the chicken and that’s because is a tradition to share and it’s a way to get the whole family together in the table, it’s very common to see a circle device to move the dishes as well.
